In April, a Bay Area university was working on a vital COVID-19 research-and-testing laboratory when it discovered firsthand the power and importance of owners having their own project management systems.

A contractor had tested positive for the virus. Since it was still early in the pandemic, fear and confusion quickly followed. But the university’s cloud-based project-management technology systems not only facilitated remote work and access, but also provided data necessary for how best to address the outbreak. Using that data, the source of the outbreak was quickly identified, and measures were added to help prevent further transmission.
